Last week our credit card was cancelled suddenly!
Turns out the bank cancelled it because someone tried to make 3 purchases for in excess of $1000 in the early hours of the morning at Walmart.com.
We have been without the credit card for almost 2 weeks while a new one was issued. Walmart sent an email about a $900+ attempted transaction. Upon calling the 800 number to speak to customer service, I thought I had stumbled into a spear phishing boiler room.
The first question they asked was to verify my address. A logical fill in the blank for someone engaged in credit card fraud and identity theft? After asking to speak with a supervisor and being put on hold, I hung up.
I reported the fraud to FTC and FBI. What else can one do? Today I googled "my walmart.com account was hacked" What an eye opener. This is common, but unreported in mainstream media!
Then I decided to close my account. Good luck with that. Here are instructions. http://www.ehow.com/how_10029667_cancel-walmartcom-account.html
Did you know that all of your information on Walmart.com is kept online? Even your old credit card numbers and addresses? It could be that Walmart.com is limping along before going down in flames. Or maybe the security breaches of people like you will just continue unabated.
What are Sam Walton's heirs doing now? http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/wal-mart-heirs-have-same-net-worth-as-the-bottom-30-percent-of-americans/2011/12/09/gIQAkg6FiO_blog.html
Who is running the business? Clearly, mercenaries
Meantime, if you shop with them online, you are highly likely to suffer an unfortunate financial security breach. http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/wwwwalmartcom/nationwide/wwwwalmartcom-walmart-online-shopping-Walmart-on-line-accounts-have-been-hacked-Internet-992574
